Years of patient calling, a great ship built on dry land, and two of every animal kept safe.

The story of Prophet Nuh (Noah), peace be upon him, and his ark is a story about patience and trust that lasts a very long time. It teaches children that doing the right thing is worth it, even when it takes years and very few people listen.

A patient prophet

Nuh's people had forgotten Allah and worshipped idols instead. Allah sent Nuh to call them back, gently and patiently. He called them for many, many years — by day and by night — but most of them refused to listen and even made fun of him. Through it all, Nuh never gave up and never stopped being kind.

Building the ark

Allah told Nuh to build a great ship — an ark — on dry land, far from any sea. The people laughed at him: why build a giant boat where there is no water? But Nuh trusted Allah and kept building, plank by plank, without listening to their mockery.

The flood

When the ark was ready, Allah commanded Nuh to bring aboard the believers and two of every kind of animal. Then the rain came, and water rose from the earth, until a great flood covered the land. Inside the ark, Nuh, the believers, and the animals were all kept safe by Allah. When the flood ended, the ark came to rest, and life began again.

What children learn from Nuh

  • Patience. Nuh kept calling his people for years without giving up.
  • Trust Allah. He built the ark on dry land because Allah told him to, even when people laughed.
  • Kindness. Allah's care reached even the animals, two of every kind, kept safe in the ark.
